Immigration Hub Statement on SCOTUS Decision to Overturn Roe v. Wade

Washington, D.C. – In response to the Supreme Court’s decision on the Dobbs v. Jackson Women’s Health Organization case to overturn Roe v. Wade and effectively eliminate the constitutional right to abortion, the Immigration Hub released the following statement:

“Today’s devastating Supreme Court decision is the culmination of decades’ long campaign by Republicans to restrict critical reproductive health care access for women and families  -- all women will pay the price, while marginalized communities will be particularly hard hit. Disproportionately impacted by the decision to effectively ban abortion services in over 26 states are Black, Latino and Indigenous women, women with disabilities, immigrants and young girls and women living in poverty who are already facing insurmountable barriers to health care. With limited access to affordable health coverage, limited economic opportunities and higher rates of maternal mortality, these women will undeniably bear the hardest consequences of this unjust decision. That’s why, we join millions of Americans across the country to say we don’t back down and we won’t go back. Everyone deserves access to safe and affordable health care and that must include abortion care.

“It is clear at this moment, we stand at a crossroads in our nation’s history as we witness a conservative Supreme Court and GOP politicians turn back the clock and dismantle rights we thought were protected. It’s imperative that we do not watch from the sidelines, but instead stand together to fight back like our lives depend on it, because they do.”
