Biden Keeps More Families Together With Haiti TPS Redesignation

The announcement follows Biden’s executive action to let Dreamers & long-settled immigrants married to American citizens keep their families together

Washington, D.C. – Today, President Biden announced a redesignation of Temporary Protected Status (TPS) for Haitian nationals living in the U.S., allowing even more families to stay together following his executive action doing the same for Dreamers and long-settled immigrants married to U.S. citizens.

In response, Immigration Hub Executive Director Kerri Talbot issued the following statement:

“President Biden’s redesignation of TPS for Haiti is very welcome news for so many families unable to return to their home country as a result of violence and instability. As thousands of Haitians are displaced and half of them children, we thank the Biden-Harris administration for their commitment to keeping families together. Following the recent executive action providing similar relief to Dreamers and undocumented spouses of U.S. citizens, it is clear that this administration is committed to building a safer and more humane system for all of us.

“Meanwhile, former President Trump and his extremist GOP allies are intent on bombarding the public with multi-million dollar advertisements and outreach efforts that villainize immigrant communities and incite violence. Fortunately, voters largely reject this cruel agenda in favor of the balanced solutions that the Biden-Harris administration is championing.

“As we celebrate today’s exciting news, we also want to extend our thanks and gratitude to immigrant communities and the countless advocates like The Haitian Bridge Alliance and UndocuBlack that worked tirelessly to make this win possible.”
