Washington, D.C. – Today, the Immigration Hub released a side-by-side analysis highlighting the policies that President Biden and Vice President Harris delivered to rebuild the nearly collapsed immigration system that they inherited from the Trump administration and how a Trump-Vance administration implementing much of Project 2025 will undermine and undo the progress made under the current administration. The Biden-Harris administration addressed legal pathways and the root causes of migration with over 500 executive actions, including over 300 to undo harmful Trump-era immigration policies that separated families, jeopardized the lives of Dreamers, and instigated chaos at the southern border. These pivotal actions have strengthened America’s border security, allowed over 2 million immigrant workers and families to get on path to legal status, created effective processes to reduce and manage migration, and fueled the country’s economic growth.
The Biden-Harris administration’s progress on immigration is now being threatened by Trump-Vance’s Project 2025 agenda which will detain and deport families and devastate America’s immigration system, jeopardizing the country’s economy, communities, and families.
“Often missing from the conversation is how former President Trump and J.D. Vance and their Project 2025 platform would dramatically upend our nation’s immigration system, creating a chain of detrimental impacts to our democracy and American communities,” stated Beatriz Lopez, Deputy Director of the Immigration Hub. “From the horrors of children separated from their families to terminating DACA and dismantling our legal immigration system, President Biden and Vice President Harris inherited a crisis of moral, political and systematic failures that jeopardized the country’s families, security and global leadership.
