Immigration Hub Response to Biden Administration’s Refugee Admissions Cap

WASHINGTON, D.C.— In response to an announcement by President Joe Biden raising the refugee admissions cap to 62,500, Kerri Talbot, Deputy Director of the Immigration Hub, issued the following statement:

“We commend the Biden-Harris administration for fulfilling the president’s pledge to raise the refugee admissions cap. Today’s announcement reaffirms our country’s commitment and responsibility as a leader around the globe in accepting and welcoming refugees who are fleeing unspeakable violence and heinous country conditions.

“Much work remains to be done but we are confident that President Biden and Vice President Harris will continue to make great strides toward building an immigration system rooted in the American values of justice and humanity. Communities across the country are prepared to welcome new neighbors who seek to safely rebuild their lives, contribute to our economy and share in the freedoms that allow us all to thrive.

“Increasing the refugee admissions cap to 62,500 is one of several actions being taken by the Biden administration to turn the page on the shameful immigration policies of the Trump administration.”
