Joint Statement on Immigration Policy Recommendations from the Unity Task Force

America’s Voice, Community Change Action, Families Belong Together, Immigration Hub, Resilience Force, Service Employees International Union, UnidosUS Action Fund and United We Dream Action support strong response to Trump Administration policy of division

WWASHINGTON — The following statement in support of the immigration policy recommendations submitted by the Unity Task Force to the Biden Campaign this week was made today on behalf of eight of the nation’s leading immigration advocacy organizations, including America’s Voice, Community Change Action, Families Belong Together, Immigration Hub, Resilience Force, Service Employees International Union, UnidosUS Action Fund and United We Dream Action.

“Immigrant and refugee families throughout the country have long been integral members of America. Together, our movement of advocates and activists have collectively organized to demand solutions that protect our families without hurting people.

We support the immigration policy recommendations delivered to the Biden Campaign this week by the Unity Task Force, which represent an important vision for January 2021 and serve as a rejection to President Trump’s consistent, relentless assault on immigrants. Building a robust agenda to roll back Trump’s policies, while also advancing a pathway to citizenship for millions of undocumented immigrants is a critical priority. The Task Force’s recommendations are an important step in the right direction.

“But while these recommendations are a good start, they are not enough. We need a clear articulation of support from the Vice President along with an understanding that support is only the first step — prioritizing action early in his administration is the second, more critical one.

“We need courageous leadership and a commitment to bold action to defeat President Trump in November. Our country is ready for a change and a move toward an immigration agenda that includes a pathway to citizenship for millions of our friends and neighbors.

“We are committed to encouraging Vice President Biden to make that vision a reality. We will also continue to galvanize voters about the need to defeat President Trump.”
