President Biden’s Immigration Blueprint
President Biden has a plan to manage the border and keep us all safE
America should have a balanced approach to the border that enforces our laws and protects families and genuine refugees. And, the Biden administration’s plan is doing just that — ensuring smarter border management and an orderly and fair process for those seeking asylum while making sure our immigration system works for both businesses and people to improve our economy.
While some politicians are trying to block solutions and score political points by trying to waste tax dollars on an ineffective border wall or return to a family separation policy, President Biden is investing in technology and border infrastructure. His administration has deployed the resources to add more border officials and processing centers to process migrants who have a valid claim to asylum while cracking down on cartels, human smugglers and drug-traffickers. The president’s plan makes sure there is order and justice at the border.
A Return to Order
The strongest components of the Biden administration’s border plan include:
-
Allowing people to legally apply for asylum and removing those who do not have a valid claim
-
Reuniting families who were separated under the past administration, and making sure future families stay together in all aspects of America’s approach to immigration
-
Cracking down on human smugglers and drug-traffickers
-
Improving technology and infrastructure at the border
-
Increasing DHS personnel from around the country
-
Launching a multi-agency response to protect both the public safety and health of all Americans and those who are seeking protection
OUR Leadership in the Region
President Biden is working with international leaders to tackle the root causes of migration by:
-
Investing in the top-sending countries to help stabilize their economies, address insecurity and support agriculture and small businesses
-
Going after the cartels
-
Creating more legal pathways so migrants can apply from their home country
-
Empowering and training women in the financial and agricultural sectors, and working to end gender-based violence
-
Working with countries in the region to bolster their own protection systems and to increase their own capacity to provide work visas
