Trump’s Budget Trade-Off: Cut Critical Family Supports to Fund Cruel Family Separation

Washington, D.C. – This week, Republicans are moving on a budget resolution that, among other demands, would funnel an additional $175 billion into turbocharging President Trump’s mass deportation operations. This proposal doesn’t just supercharge enforcement—it forces working families to foot the bill. Instead of investing in healthcare, food assistance, or programs that help American families thrive, Trump and Senate Republicans are asking communities to accept a devastating trade-off: fewer resources for seniors, children, and working families in exchange for tanks in their neighborhoods and government raids in schools, churches, and hospitals.

This budget would not only separate families but destabilize entire industries, ripping farmworkers, Dreamers, and essential workers out of the workforce while punishing everyday Americans with deep cuts to essential community support programs. 

Trump’s agenda is clear: gut investments in American families to fund mass deportations and fear-driven campaigns in local communities.

Lawmakers must identify alternative, balanced solutions that provide pathways, not punishment, for long-settled undocumented immigrants. But first they must reject this cruel, billionaire-friendly budget before it does irreversible harm.”
