Welcome to the Immigration Hub (“IH”) Website (the “Website”).  This Privacy Policy is to help you understand what information IH collects, how IH uses it, how it may be shared, and what choices you have with respect to the foregoing.  This Privacy Policy governs your interaction with the Website.  When you use the Website, you consent to our collection, use, and disclosure of information about you as described in this Privacy Policy.  Additionally, our Terms of Use are incorporated by reference into this Privacy Policy.  The terms “we,” “us,” or “our,” refer to Immigration Hub.

This Privacy Policy covers IH’s use and treatment of information collected by the Website and personal information that you provide in connection with your use of the Website.  This Privacy Policy does not apply to the data collection and use practices of third parties that IH does not own or control, including but not limited to, any third party services you access through the Website.

We collect information that you provide to us directly and information that is automatically collected when you use our Website.  We may use the information for purposes including but not limited to: operating, maintaining, enhancing, and providing the Website’s functionality; providing services and information that you request; personalizing your experience; monitoring Website usage; providing customer support; generating and reviewing reports and data about the Website’s user base and service usage patterns; compiling aggregate data for internal and external business purposes;  aggregating the information with data provided by third parties; resolving disputes and troubleshooting problems; messaging you (in ways described by this Privacy Policy); preventing, detecting, and investigating potentially prohibited or illegal activities or a breach of the applicable agreement(s) between you and IH; and complying with legal obligations.

 

Of further note about the information we collect:

a.         Registration Information:  When you register with the Website, we collect your name and the contact information you provide.  You may update or change your registration information by emailing us at: info@theimmigrationhub.org.   You have an obligation to provide us accurate and updated information.

b.         Communications:  When you register with the Website, you are opting in to receive communications from us or about IH, including promotional, marketing, and advertising information and recommendations that IH believes may be of interest to you.  Consistent with applicable laws, including United States CAN-SPAM laws, you can opt out of certain email communications by clicking “unsubscribe” on those communications, but note that you cannot opt out of receiving certain administrative or legal notices from us.

c.         Automatically Collected Information:  We collect and may store information about your use of the Website, such as your search activity, the pages you view, and the date and time of your visit.  We also collect and may store information that your computer or mobile device provides to us in connection with your use of the Website, such as your browser type and version, type of computer or mobile device, computer connection, browser language, IP address, ad data, mobile carrier, unique device identifier, Wi-Fi connection, geo-location, and requested and referring URLs.

Account Termination and Data Retention

You can terminate your registration with Website at any time by emailing your request to: info@theimmigrationhub.org.  We retain information about you for as long as it is necessary and relevant for IH’s operations.  The information we retain will be handled in accordance with this Privacy Policy unless prohibited by law.

 

Children’s Privacy

Protecting the privacy of young children is especially important.  The Website is intended for general audiences and is not directed to children under 13.  We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.  If you are under 13 years of age, then please do not use or register with the Website at any time or in any manner.  If we learn that personally identifiable information has been collected on the Website from persons under 13 years of age and without verifiable parental consent, then we will take the appropriate steps to delete this information.  If you are a parent or guardian and discover that your child under 13 years has registered with the Website, then you may alert us at legal@theimmigrationhub.org and request that we delete that child’s personally identifiable information from our systems.

We use certain physical, managerial, and technical safeguards that are designed to improve the integrity and security of your personally identifiable information.  We cannot, however, ensure or warrant the security of any information you transmit to us or store on the Website, and you do so at your own risk.  We cannot guarantee that such information may not be accessed, disclosed, altered, or destroyed by breach of any of our physical, technical, or managerial safeguards.

If we learn of a security systems breach, then we may attempt to notify you electronically so that you can take appropriate protective steps.  We may post a notice through the Website if a security breach occurs.  Depending on where you live, you may have a legal right to receive notice of a security breach in writing.  To receive a free written notice of a security breach you should notify us at legal@theimmigrationhub.org.

Our Website contains links to other sites that are not controlled by us.  If you follow a link to any of these websites, please note that these websites have their own privacy policies and that we do not accept any responsibility or liability for these policies.  We encourage you to be aware when you leave our Website and read the privacy policies of each and every site you visit.  This privacy policy applies only to information collected by the Website.

 

California Privacy Rights

Under California Civil Code Section 1798.83, California residents can request in writing from businesses with whom they have an established business relationship:  (a) a list of the categories of personal information and the type of services provided to the customer, that a business has disclosed to third parties (including affiliates that are separate legal entities) during the immediately preceding calendar year for the third parties’ direct marketing purposes and (b) the names and addresses of all such third parties.  To make such a request from us, if entitled, please write to us at 555 Bryant Street, Suite 259, Palo Alto, CA 94301.  We will respond to such properly addressed written requests.  Please note that we are only required to respond to each customer once per calendar year.

 

Modifications and Updates to Privacy Policy

We may revise this Privacy Policy from time to time.  The most current version of the Privacy Policy will govern our use of information about you and will be located here:  Privacy Policy.  If we make material changes to this Privacy Policy, we may notify you by email or by posting a notice on the Website.  By continuing to use or register with the Website after those changes become effective, you agree to be bound by the revised Privacy Policy.

 

Jurisdiction

This Privacy Policy will be interpreted under the laws of California and of the United States.  To the extent you are accessing the Website from outside of the United States, you do so at your own risk.  If you are located outside the United States, you should be aware that your information will be transferred to the United States.  The data protection laws of the United States may not be as comprehensive as those in your country.  By using this Website, you consent to your information being collected, used, and transferred as set forth in this Privacy Policy.
