Immigration Hub Reaction to Horrific Update on Immigrant Families Permanently Separated

WASHINGTON, D.C.— In reaction to reports confirming that the Trump administration failed to locate the parents of 545 children who were separated at the southern border as a result of the administration’s “zero tolerance” policy, Kerri Talbot, Director of Federal Advocacy at the Immigration Hub, issued the following statement:

“Trump’s family separation policy has resulted in long lasting and devastating consequences for families. Further, we recently learned of several Trump officials who relentlessly spearheaded their family separation policy knowing well that there was never a plan for reunification. The heartless and reckless actions of so many Trump officials have not only left a stain on our country but have greatly harmed and literally torn apart thousands of families. While some former officials have attempted to distance themselves and others will attempt to rewrite history after they’re out of a job next year, they must be held accountable and forced to answer for their abhorrent actions.

Undoubtedly, Trump should be held accountable for his family separation policy and the many other attacks against families during his tenure as president-- both at the polls and after he is voted out of office. These are the very policies that horrified the American public. We know that voters firmly reject Trump’s hateful agenda and their disgust at policies like family separation will play an important role in the election. His loss at the polls will in part be due to the horrific actions including family separation and his broader anti-immigrant agenda.”
