TPS Decision Raises Election Stakes: Hundreds of Thousands of Workers at Risk of Deportation

Washington, D.C.— In response to the decision issued by the Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals in Ramos v. Nielsen, Kerri Talbot, Director of Federal Advocacy for the Immigration Hub, issued the following statement:

“Today’s ruling greenlights the Trump administration’s cruel anti-immigrant agenda and raises the stakes for the November election. For over three years, Trump has terrorized immigrant families for his own political gain. It is unconscionable that TPS holders across the country, including 130,000 working on the frontlines of the pandemic response and recovery efforts, could be ripped from their communities. This ruling further solidifies that this year’s presidential election will decide the fate of many immigrants, including TPS holders and DACA recipients. The Senate can and should ensure that families across the country can stay together by immediately taking up the Dream and Promise Act to establish a path to citizenship for our TPS neighbors and Dreamers.”
