Immigration Hub: We Stand Strongly in Solidarity with AAPI Communities Across Georgia and the Country

WASHINGTON, DC - In response to the hate crime committed against members of the Asian American community in Georgia, the Immigration Hub issued the following statement:

“Unequivocally, we stand strongly in solidarity with the Asian American and Pacific Islander communities across Georgia and the country. We mourn with all the families of those who were tragically murdered.

“There is no question, however, the assault and murder of six women of Asian descent is a crime full of hate. It represents a part of America’s story we have yet to fully acknowledge and transform - the systemic racism that pervades our nation. Over the last year alone, members of the AAPI community have suffered
thousands of hateful verbal, physical and online attacks.

“It’s incumbent on us all to recognize the severity and consequences of our words. Hate speech, misogyny, unconscious bias, and racism in all its forms are simply unacceptable. We hold ourselves to account and pledge our continued work towards bold reforms of equity and compassion, as individuals, as an organization and as a community.”
