New site highlights President Biden and Vice President Harris’s Actions to “Rebuild an Immigration System that Powers Our Economy and Reflects Our Values”
Washington, D.C – Today, ahead of President Joe Biden’s final address to the nation, Immigration Hub launched its Biden-Harris Immigration Legacy website. The site highlights the Biden-Harris Administration’s efforts to reunite families, increase access to legal pathways to citizenship for long-settled immigrants, address driving factors of migration, restore order and safety at the border, and recommit to America’s legacy as a safe haven for refugees.
Kerri Talbot, Co-Executive Director of the Immigration Hub, released the following statement:
“Today, as President Biden delivers his final address to the nation, we reflect on the significant strides made during his administration to rebuild and modernize our immigration system. Together with Vice President Harris, President Biden ended family separation policies, reunified over 795 children with their parents, and expanded Temporary Protected Status (TPS) to protect nearly 1.8 million immigrants. His administration welcomed over 181,000 refugees, safeguarded protections for over 530,000 Dreamers, and naturalized more than 2.6 million new Americans.
These accomplishments represent not only a commitment to upholding our values but also to advancing economic stability, as immigrants filled critical labor shortages and expanded the workforce by over 2 million during a period of pandemic recovery. While much work remains, President Biden and Vice President Harris have laid the groundwork for an immigration system rooted in dignity, fairness, and economic strength.
As the incoming Trump administration threatens to roll back this progress and more, we remain dedicated to protecting these hard-won victories and defending the values that make our nation stronger.”
