Senate Advances More Funding for Trump’s Deportation Machine

15 MARCH 20925

Despite claims that the bill is “clean,” it opens the door for expanded detention, deportations, and unchecked enforcement—giving Trump even more power to terrorize immigrant communities.

Washington, D.C. – The Senate has followed the House in passing a Continuing Resolution that funnels millions more towards Trump’s requested $350 billion mass deportation slush fund, paving the way for more indiscriminate raids and expanded detention. As Trump seeks to invoke the Alien Enemies Act, more funding would allow him to expand this deportation dragnet, sweeping up long-settled immigrants with jobs, families, and deep ties to their communities–and with the infrastructure in place, citizens who dissent could be next.

Statement from Kerri Talbot, Co-Executive Director of the Immigration Hub:

“The Senate just rubber-stamped Trump’s mass deportation agenda, handing him more resources to tear families apart and target immigrants under the guise of governance. Lawmakers must stop enabling his authoritarian agenda and prioritize policies that protect all communities instead of scapegoating them.”
